Dustin Heveron’s: Less Good Versions of Well-Known Songs — Something

Hello, chum! If the colder autumn weather and constant threat of the zombie apocalypse (trust me, it’s closer than you think) have you feeling down, then allow me to recommend a solution that’s even better than anything your local apothecary could whip up with their entire vault of sundries! That’s right, I’m talking about the dulcet tones and delightful rhythms of Dustin Heveron’s Less Good Versions of Well-Known Songs™ (patent pending). On the butcher’s block in this inaugural episode is a legendary song by the Fab Four from Frankfurt, The Beatles! If you’ve ever heard The Beatles’ song, “Something” and thought to yourself, “Hm, I wonder what that song would sound like without all the instruments and other band members and musical ability?” than THIS is the version for you! If you enjoy it, share it with your friends so they can enjoy it too! Or if you hate it, still share it with your friends and you can all bond with one another by mocking it mercilessly as a group! It’s 2014, and hatred is every bit as valuable as positivity when it comes to the internet.

Play on,
Dustin

30 in 30, Day 29: It’s Arrested…Development

So let me just say that I spent a few minutes tinkering on my ukulele (purchased yesterday as you may recall), and figured out the theme song tag from my all time favorite television show, Arrested Development. Playing the AD theme on my own ukulele: check another one off the bucket list. I hope this inspires you to quote the best show ever cancelled nonstop for the next two weeks. Don’t leave your Uncle T-Bag hanging!

I’ve made a huge mistake.

30 in 30, Day 22: At Least I Didn’t Cover a Britney Spears Song

Ok, you got me. There might be a partial untruth in this blog’s title…specifically, that I may have covered a Britney Spears song for today’s 30 in 30 project. Now I don’t want to be “disclaimers for my lack of musical ability/knowledge” guy, but I will just say that I played/sang/arranged everything myself (minus the drums), on my computer earlier this evening, in a handful of hours. I get particularly self-conscious when it comes to musical things because I’ve been blessed with so many musically-talented friends who put out content that’s both legitimate, and legitimately good. However, I am still in the unprofessional/amateur category, so I try not to hold myself to their high standards. Luckily, no one on the internet is judgmental, so I imagine people will only have the nicest of things to say about it. Moving on, Britney Spears was in town recently, and I’ve been toying with covering one of her iconic songs for quite some time, but full credit to my buddy Chris S. who pointed out what a catchy cover song this would make. Mayhaps this rendition will further inspire us to do an even better cover within a cover, Inception style. As Reese Roper often said, “I hope you hate it.”
